A recognition that highlights the Loro Parque Group's efforts towards a more responsible and sustainable tourism.
Loro Parque and Siam Park have once again been recognized for their sustainability management, earning the Biosphere Sustainable certifications.
This certification represents the success of Loro Parque and Siam Park's commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Both parks, part of the Loro Parque Group, are benchmarks in their sector : Loro Parque is the most recognized scientific zoo in the world, while Siam Park has been awarded the title of the best water park in the world by Tripadvisor for ten consecutive years.
This recognition is awarded based on the responsible practices implemented in the operations of both parks, an approach that is part of the corporate philosophy of the Loro Parque Group in all its divisions.
The certification specifically highlights the group’s commitment to promoting the active participation of its employees in shared projects and positively responding to the expectations of its visitors.
The evaluation of all sustainability processes developed by Loro Parque and Siam Park is carried out through external audits, which examine the different areas where the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals must be implemented.
As a result of these assessments, Biosphere Sustainable grants these certifications, emphasizing the dedication of Loro Parque and Siam Park to sustainability.
Wolfgang Kiessling, President of Loro Parque, emphasized the importance of engagement in all sectors to create sustainable and environmentally friendly businesses:
"Loro Parque has always worked to ensure that our actions leave a positive footprint on the planet: making sure our carbon footprint is negative, eliminating the use of single-use plastics, using eco-friendly products…
We are energetically self-sufficient in all our parks.
We have our own desalination plants and do not discharge waste into the sea.
Furthermore, we work day and night to preserve animal life on our planet, ensuring that it remains just as incredible for future generations.
We are pleased that these certifications acknowledge our commitment.
Tourism can be a sustainable activity, and we are dedicated to proving it.”
The Biosphere Sustainable certificate measures and quantifies corporate procedures based on indicators developed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN).
This system was created by the Institute of Responsible Tourism (ITR).
Additionally, Biosphere offers a unique methodology for sustainability management and certification, allowing businesses and destinations to connect, evaluate, and publicly guarantee their sustainability efforts according to universal recognition criteria.
With this new milestone, Loro Parque reaffirms its role as a global leader in sustainability and conservation, further consolidating itself as a reference point in responsible tourism.
