From October 2 to 5, 2025, the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will become the beating heart of sports with the second edition of ExpoDeca, the Canary Islands’ premier fair dedicated to physical activity and sports. The announcement was made during FITUR, the International Tourism Fair, by Poli Suárez, Canary Islands' Minister of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports, alongside Lope Afonso, Vice President and Minister of Tourism of the Tenerife Cabildo, and Yolanda Moliné, Tenerife’s Sports Minister.
During the presentation, Lope Afonso emphasized the significance of the event for the island:
"ExpoDeca represents a major challenge and opportunity for Tenerife. This event will serve as a meeting point for all key players in the world of sports, which is increasingly recognized as a transformative and cross-sectoral force in society. It not only promotes well-being and a healthy lifestyle but also fuels the economy, tourism, industry, and employment."
The event aims to surpass the success of its first edition, which in 2022 attracted over 17,000 visitors, featuring 80 exhibitors, 350 hours of practical activities and demonstrations, and more than 40 conferences and panel discussions with 100 top-level speakers.
The presentation was attended by prominent figures from the Canary Islands' and international sports scene, including Olympic medal-winning gymnast Ray Zapata, former synchronized swimmer Thais Henríquez, former professional tennis player Carla Suárez, and basketball player Javier Beirán. The event also featured champions from other disciplines, such as Marta Mangué and Dani Sarmiento (handball), Víctor Rodríguez (rowing), and Armide Soliveres (bodyboarding).
Additionally, ExpoDeca 2025 has received strong support from Canarian sports clubs and organizations, including CB Canarias President Félix Hernández and CB Gran Canaria President Sitapha Savané, who reaffirmed the event’s importance in promoting and enhancing sports across the islands.
The first edition of ExpoDeca was a turning point for the Canary Islands' sports landscape, becoming the largest gathering ever organized on physical activity in the archipelago. The 2025 edition aims to exceed these achievements, further reinforcing the role of sports not only as entertainment but also as a driver of economic, social, and cultural development.
For four days, Tenerife will become the epicenter of sports, welcoming enthusiasts, athletes, professionals, and industry leaders from across the region and beyond. It will be an unmissable opportunity to celebrate sports as a central pillar in building a healthier and more dynamic society.
